Title: Take Back The Night
Artist: Justin Timberlake
Album: The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2
Justin Timberlake is all out releasing new music this year which may amount to the music he should have released during his six-year hiatus. He had two massive hits from The 20/20 Experience with his comeback single, Suit & Tie and Mirrors. Then a featuring to a song with Smells Like Teen Spirit lyric samples from Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail released last month and the final single (I suppose) from his album, Tunnel Vision which made buzz because of its racy music video released earlier this week.
That wrapped up the first half of his comeback year. The second half has begun with his latest single Take Back The Night off of his second full-length album this year, The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2. The lead single is co-produced by Timbaland and J-Roc. Its production took tiny bits of inspiration from recent hits like Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Daft Punk's Get Lucky. But the end product is a Michael Jackson wannabe club track infusing disco and R&B.
The track is pretty neat but not a stand out. It even sounds like Let The Groove Get In from Part 1 which is more single-worthy. The main problem with this song is that it doesn't have a solid hook. It focused more on the soulful production and 80's vibe. Let's just hope this is the Suit & Tie of the Mirrors that is to come.
